Ian Haywood Singer-Songwriter

Ian Haywood's journey as a songwriter began in his teens, and it has flourished ever since. With a passion for music that knows no bounds, he recently celebrated the completion of his fifth album with the reggae duo BFriendly.

'BFriendly was a real change of direction for me', he says. 'I'd always been a reggae lover and I just discovered one day that I could create it as well!'

BFriendly's reggae has had plenty of worldwide streams along with some great feedback from people all over the world including Africa and the West Indies, where reggae of course originates, although Ian is a songwriter in other genres and this page is all about songs in the key of his own life.

He says, 'The album Gravitate is my first singer-songwriter album and it is released in spring. It is about my life and a collection of country/folk rock songs from the last 20 years.'

So why has it taken him so long to come up with a singer-songwriter album? He goes on, 'In the past I tended to write songs from different genres that would not sit comfortably together on an album. Now I have an album with more direction and songs that mean a lot to me personally'.

So what are his influences?

He lists some of his biggest influences for this album as Elton John, soul music, Queen, Lindisfarne and 90s indie rock amongst others.
